The Center received the 2021 Winner award for the achievement of the GHG target for a reduction between 50 and 90% of its greenhouse gas emissions between 2018 and 2021

AEE Regional Award

The AEE Awards Gala was held on October 19, 2021, at the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in Los Angeles. The Center won the AEE Regional Award given for excellence in building energy management and performance.

ASHRAE  Award

The Center is proud to have received an ASHRAE award in the “Commercial Building Cx” category. This award proves that even the most environmentally friendly buildings can improve their energy performance. The Center thanks Ecosystem for their valuable support and guidance. 

2019 Real Estate Energy Challenge Award

The DEI is a 4-year competition aimed at reducing energy consumption and GHG emissions of commercial, institutional and multi-residential buildings in Québec.

On October 6, 2021, the Center was a recipient of the 2019 Real Estate Energy Challenge (REE) Award.

Durabilys 2016 Excellence Award

On March 23, 2016, at the Durabilys Gala, the Center won a Category 1 Excellence Award in “LEED New Construction and Major Renovation” at the 2016. The Durabilys Gala is an initiative of the Canada Green Building Council – Quebec (CaGBC-QC.)

Event Venue Award – VIvats Gala 2014

The Centre received the Event Venue Award during the 3rd edition of the Vivats Gala, held on April 16, 2014. Organized by the Conseil québécois des événements écoresponsables (Quebec council for eco-friendly events), this contest aims to reward responsible best practices in Quebec event planning. 

Nomination – 2014 Montreal Environment and Sustainable Development Recognition Gala

The Centre’s 2013 program was nominated in the nonprofit category during the 2014 Montreal Environment and Sustainable Development Recognition Gala.

The Gala provides a unique opportunity to highlight innovative initiatives introduced by partners engaged in the 2010-2015 Montréal Community Sustainable Development Plan.

The awards recognize activities that make a difference in improving the overall quality of life in Montreal.

Jury’s Choice Award – Energia Contest

On February 14, 2014, the Centre received the Jury’s Choice Award for the 24th edition of the Energia Contest organized by the Association québécoise pour la maîtrise de l’énergie (AQME, a Quebec association for energy management).

Deeply impressed by the building’s efficient, cutting-edge technology, the jury highlighted the excellent work performed by the Centre’s integrated design team.

With its unrivalled energy efficiency performance, the Centre is synonymous with “ingenuity, innovation and success” and is a “a role model in terms of environmental impact, “ according to the AQME.

Award of Excellence – Canadian Consulting 2013 Engineering Awards

The engineering performance team Bouthillette Parizeau received an Award of Excellence in the Building category for their work on the Centre for Sustainable Development. The award-winning projects are described in full in Canadian Consulting Engineer’s October 2013 issue. The jury was impressed: “This project is a showcase of fine engineering practice in the field of sustainable development. The jury liked the idea of it being a living laboratory for educating the public in green building.”

Now in their 45th year, the Canadian Consulting Engineering awards are the highest recognition for excellence in the Canadian consulting engineering industry. The program is a joint initiative of the Association of Consulting Engineering Companies – Canada (ACEC) and Canadian Consulting Engineer magazine.

People’s Choice Award – Québec Order of Architects

The Centre for Sustainable Development received the 2013 People’s Choice Award granted by the Ordre des architectes du Québec (Quebec Order of Architects). Congratulations to Menkès Shooner Dagenais LeTourneux Architectes for their contribution to the project!

Since 1978, the Awards of Excellence in Architecture have highlighted the indispensable contribution of Quebec architects to the province’s built environment. Awarded by the Ordre des architectes du Québec, this prize identifies and showcases the best architectural projects produced in Quebec and around the world by Quebec architects.

Honourable mention – Contech Innovation and Sustainable Development Award 

The Centre for Sustainable Development received an honourable mention for Contech’s Innovation and Sustainable Development Award in the ICI Building, Innovative Practice category.

Contech’s Innovation and Sustainable Development Awards visibility program serves to highlight and promote building know-how in Quebec. It is open to product manufacturers, architects, engineers and private or public organizations working in a field related to building design, construction or management.

Visionary Award – Quebec Consulting Engineering Awards 

The Centre was awarded several prizes during the 11th edition of the Grands Prix du génie-conseil québécois (Quebec Consulting Engineering Awards) on June 12, 2013 in Montreal.

The Centre’s project, undertaken by the firm Bouthillette Parizeau for Équiterre, won a Leonard in the Mechanical/Electrical Building category as well as the Visionary Award, a prize given to a particularly innovative, bold or proactive venture. 

Coup de coeur – Armatura Awards

The Centre is proud to have won the 2013 Armatura Award in the Coup de Cœur category. This contest aims to highlight excellence in steel-reinforced concrete works. By presenting the Centre with this award, the Institut d’acier d’armature of Quebec underscores the creativity and expertise demonstrated by the project’s development team.

The Centre wishes to congratulate Équiterre, Menkès Shooner Dagenais Létourneux Architectes, Pasquin St-Jean and associates as well as Pomerleau Inc. for their contribution to this innovative venture.

Real Estate Excellence Award – Quebec Institute for Urban Development

In March 2012, the Institut de développement urbain du Québec (IDU, the Quebec Institute for Urban Development) awarded the Centre a Real Estate Excellence Award in the Commercial Building category. According to the IDU, the Centre distinguished itself by its extremely innovative financial and legal startup, by its cutting-edge technology in keeping with LEED Platinum certification standards, as well as by the strong social and educational aspects of its development with regard to sustainability.

The Centre set itself apart by its innovation and its successful integration to the urban landscape. This was made possible thanks to the vision and creativity of all contributors to the project, before and during construction, as well as through the continued support of all people interested in its endeavours. Congratulations!

Finalist – Elixir Project Award 

The Centre was one of four finalists for PMI Montreal’s 2012 Elixir Project Award. This prize highlights excellence in project management. Congratulations to Sylvain Grand’Maison, who did a remarkable job managing construction with Équiterre. 

Plumbing Engineering Award – American Society of Plumbing Engineers

In 2011, Bouthillette Parizeau, the firm in charge of mechanics and plumbing at the Centre for Sustainable Development, was presented with the Plumbing Engineering Award by the The American Society of Plumbing Engineers (ASPE).
