What is La Maison du développement durable (MDD)?

Open to the public, La Maison du développement durable is a hub dedicated to the ecological transition:
- We offer activities to support you on your ecological transition journey.
- We manage the building that houses organizations with an ecological or social mission, allowing them to focus on their work.
- We showcase our LEED Platinum-certified building to promote sustainable construction in Québec.
- We rent out eco-responsible venues for your events.
Where is La Maison du développement durable located, and what’s the best way to get there?

La Maison du développement durable is located at 50 Sainte-Catherine Street West Montréal H2X 3V4, in the heart of the Quartier des spectacles in Montréal. It’s easily accessible by metro (we’re just steps from Saint-Laurent metro station on the green line) or by bike (bicycle parking is available on-site).
Is there parking on-site?
Expositions
We don’t have parking on-site. However, you can park at Complexe Desjardins or Place des Arts, both nearby.
Is the building accessible for people with a mobility impairment?

Yes! Our main entrance, at 50 Sainte-Catherine Street West, is universally accessible. The building also has adapted washrooms and elevators.

What are the opening hours of your building?

I heard you offer guided tours of your eco-friendly building. How does that work?

Tours of our eco-friendly building are by reservation only. Two types of guided tours are offered:
- Every Friday, at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., Hydro-Québec offers free tours of about one hour to the general public. Book your spot.
- La Maison du développement durable also offers technical tours priced at $300 for student groups, non-profits, and companies in the fields of engineering or architecture (maximum 20 people). Book your group tour.

La Maison du développement durable’s mission isn’t to provide direct references, recommendations, resources, or support. However, in collaboration with many partners, we offer programming that may help you along your transition journey! Taking part in our activities is also a great way to meet other committed people who can help you go further.
We also invite you to visit the websites of the various organizations that rent space at La Maison du développement durable. Many of them can point you toward helpful resources!

As a non-profit organization, our budget doesn’t allow us to provide financial support for external initiatives. However, our team is always open to content and visibility partnerships*.

How much do your venues cost?

Do you offer a discount for community organizations and other non-profits?

Absolutely! Non-profits stick together! We offer a 33% discount to non-profits that book our venues on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and Mondays.
Is there a fee if I want to change the date of my event or cancel it?

Yes. Cancellation and change of date fees range from 20% to 100% of the rental cost, depending on when the cancellation occurs. Check out our Policies and Rates page to learn more.
What’s included in the rental cost?

- Room set-up according to what was agreed upon at booking, and cleanup
- Rectangular, 5-foot-long tables, chairs, water dispensers, sign holders, a mobile coat rack, and a lectern
- A screen and projector, a central computer, two wireless microphones, speakers, WiFi access, a presentation remote, and an HDMI cable
Do you have any other equipment available?

Yes! You will find the list of additional equipment available for rental below our pricing grid.
I need catering for my event. Am I required to use the service offered by ZinZin Restaurant? Can I use a different catering service?
Les aspects techniques et technologiques du bâtiment
To avoid paying eco-fees, we recommend choosing the catering service from ZinZin Restaurant, located in our building, as it’s an eco-responsible choice: meals are prepared on-site and served on washable dishware. This means your event generates less waste and fewer greenhouse gas emissions!
You can, of course, choose an outside caterer. Check out our Policies and Rates page to learn more about eco-fees, or discover ZinZin Restaurant.
Can we serve alcohol at La Maison du développement durable?

Yes, but you must first apply online for a meeting permit.

What is L’Effet durable? Where can I listen to it?

L’Effet durable is your weekly radio show that takes a solutions-oriented look at socio-ecological issues! It’s a French-language show hosted by Maude Desbois and produced in collaboration with CIBL 101.5, Montreal’s francophone community radio station. From September to June, we’re on air Tuesdays at noon, with a rebroadcast Thursdays at 11 a.m.
