Come and play with us!

(And be automatically entered to win prizes!)

Following the success of our very first board game night, we invite you to celebrate the International Day of Play with us on June 11. This is a wonderful opportunity to have fun while continuing to reflect on the connections between play and the socio-ecological transition. We will highlight the benefits of play for peace and sustainable development.

What do we practise when we play board games? What values are conveyed through our games? What can games teach us about cooperation and healthy democracy?

This game night is organized in collaboration with Abl Bla Lab, a collaborative and participatory design agency, which will give away great prizes.

Two Dedicated Areas

To reflect the wide variety of game types and players, we will feature two distinct zones: one for beginner-level players and one for intermediate-like players.

You don’t need to be an expert or know the rules of the featured games to join in! Volunteers will be on-site to explain everything. Teenagers are more than welcome!

Evening Schedule:

  • Icebreaker: conversation and networking game
  • Background presentation: The International Day of Play, decreed by the UN
  • Introduction to the featured board games
  • Play sessions by zone
  • Lively plenary session and feedback

Special Discount!

Would you like to bring a game that you can host and that aligns with the theme of this evening? We are happy to offer you a discounted entry fee ($15). Please email us at info@lamdd.org with the title and a brief description of the game, as well as the minimum and maximum number of players.

Bring a reusable water bottle and consider using active or public transportation. Additionally, photos may be taken during the event. If you do not wish to appear in these photos, please let us know.

A huge thank you to our invaluable volunteers and collaborators for their support in organizing our events. And thank you to Hydro-Québec, main partner of La Maison du développement durable!
